The main things at a good email layout are: it should to be easily recognized, have a web based version, easy unsubscribe choice; integration with social media, which will be essential nowadays and a mobile edition. The content will be well structured and exhibit all the images properly.

Design continuity. Whenever someone receives your newsletter, particularly if it's the first time, he must understand immediately that the sender is. This will produce the first impression which can result in one of the following: that he will read or rather ignore your mail, or worse, will mark it as spam. You should be consistent and designing your newsletter in the exact same style. It needs to be image and brand goodwill of your website. Include your logo in the header of this newsletter with your slogan or other symbols of your manufacturer. Use the very same colors, fonts and images according to your site as far as you can. At the footer of this newsletter, add your contact information. In exactly the exact same region you can provide a small explanation why the reader received this email from you. It would sound something like: "You're receiving this newsletter because you signed up to receive Your CompanyName newsletter. To ensure our newsletter always reaches your inbox, please add infoatyoucompanyname.com to your address book."

The internet based version. Some of your readers can't or do not want to view html emails in their email clients. That is why you need to include a "View the online version" link in the header of your own newsletter. This link will open the newsletter in the default browser.

Integration with interpersonal websites. Your newsletter is a good method to collect more fans on your Facebook page, more followers on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube etc as well as more subscribers to your RSS feed. To connect your viewers with your account on your treasured social networks, just don't forget to include at a visible location of your newsletter that the various call to action links. Additionally, you can add Facebook "Like" and Twitter "Twitt" buttons for each guide, product or whole newsletter. Or an even easier way to market your newsletter would be to bring a "Forward to a friend" link.

Good content construction. Don't just duplicate in your newsletter all of the content from your site. In case you have a promotion, a specific offer or an important statement make sure you put it at the very visible place, above the rest of the content. Choose which content is the most important and place it on the top. Grab attention with big titles and coloured telephone to action buttons, but be careful not to overdo it. Do not place full content. A few paragraphs using a "read more" link to your site are sufficient.

Using pictures, flash, interactive kinds. Most of the email customers have the images turned off by default. That's why it's not encouraged to include important content within images. You need to make sure your readers will have the ability to receive your message even when they had the images turned off. The images you use should not be overly large. Keep in mind that some email clients (like Outlook 2007) do not support background images. Do not embed flash and don't use interactive forms.

Designing for cellular. Optimize your newsletter for mobile devices or create a mobile-friendly version of your newsletter and supply a hyperlink to it.

Simple unsubscribe chance. Don't neglect to add an unsubscribe link. Don't even attempt to conceal it in the reader. If someone made a decision to unsubscribe, it's far better to let him move than to find an annoyed subscriber, or even worse, a spam complaint.
